We welcome you to this distinct family of faith which is Trinity United Methodist Church! It is our desire that you experience the warmth of this very special fellowship, and that each and every time you come, you leave with something to inspire and challenge your Christian walk in faith.
"The vision of Trinity Church is to satisfy the spiritual needs of the church, community, and society."
"To make disciples of Jesus Christ."
A GREAT SPIRITUAL REVIVAL brought membership to 700 in 1841 and it was deemed advisable to build another church and divide the membership into two churches, east and west. The eastern church would become Trinity. The present East Main location was purchased from Jeremiah McLean for $800.00. The first unit of our present building was erected and dedicated in 1842.
THE ORIGINAL FACADE of the church featured six brick pilasters in the Greek Revival character and a centered entrance. Access to the building was gained by stone steps from ground level to the second floor. The sanctuary was decorated with beautiful stenciling. Oil lamps on iron standards lighted the sanctuary and great iron stoves warmed it.
THE YEAR 1890 brought a remodeling that removed the stone steps and a new entrance was designed with inside stairways.
AN EDUCATION BUILDING was added in 1958 at a cost of approximately $100,000.00. An elevator was added in 1957 to provide easier access to the sanctuary. The appearance of the sanctuary was changed in the spring of 1966 with the addition of new pews, using a center aisle and adding carpeting.
IN 1968 DR. C.V. YAPEL bequeathed fund for a new organ for the sanctuary. The sanctuary again underwent great change to accommodate the Schantz organ. In 1995 this organ went through a renovation with the addition of magnetic console and midi computer system adding over 100 voices to the already glorious pipe organ sound.
IN 1976 TRINITY acquired the corner property known as the Lundbeck Apartments and Cruit Furniture Store. Rev. Leonard Mann made two trips to England to negotiate the purchase for $90,000.00.
IN 1995 TRINITY acquired the Billings Furniture Store for $120,000.00. Plans were developed to enhance both the existing structure and newly acquired property. 45 off-street parking spaces were created, an elevator uniting all four floors, new conference room, larger Friendship hall capable of seating over 325 people, new chapel area featuring stain glass windows, new youth room and youth pastor office, two pastoral offices, a room for committee meetings and small group informal gatherings, and a crib nursery. The facility also boasts of eight showers to accommodate overnight retreat groups and work camp settings.About Trinity Church

The History of The Church Building...
THE FIRST METHODIST SOCIETY in Chillicothe was organized in 1800 with eighteen members. Meetings were held in the open air, in log houses and in the old stone statehouse. Bishop Francis Asbury preached to the Northwest Conference in the society's new building on West Second Street on September 4, 1807.
